Granma2aj - the regulations about car seats have changed fairly recently I think, and you can't use a forward facing seat until they are 15 months old. I hope this link helps:

The rules for child car seats and booster seats - height, weight, age, type of vehicle, car, minibus, licensed taxi

It seems like a bit of a minefield!

As Daisy says, the rules keep changing
I moved all 3 of my grandchildren into my forward facing seat when they were about a year old and were too big for the smaller rear facing baby seat.

I changed your title btw Granma2aj!

I think it depends on weight as well as age if I’m not mistaken whichever comes first , don’t know the weight off hand

I would imagine somewhere like Halfords, or Mothercare would be able to give you the correct advice.
