    Village Rocks

Is this a nationwide thing, or just local to me?
My village, and DD2's village (on opposite sides of York, many miles apart) both have the painted rock thing going on. I don't know if any others do, but I am guessing so as those two do.

People, usually children but adults can of course take part, paint and decorate rocks and hide them around the place. Others find them. You can, if you really like one keep it. The general idea though is to re hide the rock for someone else to find. Children seem to love this. My elder grandson and I found 3 yesterday which he hid again.
It isn't only villages now I think about it, as when we went on our Filey trip the girls found one which they hid again.

We've had a rock 'thing' going in our village for quite some time now! Seems to go through phases of people hiding and finding them though. It's all quiet at the moment. I've found a couple and re-hidden them and must admit it brought a smile to my face when I found them. The rocks get photographed and posted on a special FB page so people know they've been found.
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

I ‘found’ one outside the Tate Modern recently. It was beautifully decorated. I left it hoping a child might find it. I found another at a garden centre in Suffolk, I wasn’t sure if it was meant to be there as it had lots of quirky things there so I left it. Not seen any here though.

Oh I see now what it is all about. Sounds a nice idea but haven't heard if it happening here.

GD2 and I found one a couple of months ago, so we took it and rehid it and put another one in its place. We also put one in our cul de sac, but it's still there! The little girl next door saw it, but didn't know what it was.

When I visited Melbourne, Derby a while ago they were doing it then. Maybe I'll paint some pebbles from the beach with the oldest GSs & start the trend here. I love the idea.
