Daisy, the album is a success! I had 60 pages to figure out, it has worked out really well, I hope the second one arrives as quickly.

Mimi, you won't be on the naughty step for not liking ginger. Not everyone likes the same things.

Good morning,, no fog here but a colder morning, sunny now. I see the second album will arrive this afternoon.

Mimi, there a few things I do not like, as Nanto says, we don't all like the same.

            Good morning ladies.
Still thick fog here. Yesterday it was like this, and by the time I did the school run I had to wear sunglasses as it was too bright to drive without !!
No plans here, going with the flow.

            Have a good day everyone.

              Morning ladies , a clear morning ,
We were in Lidl at 7am only us in , neither of us slept last night so we were up housework done and out before 7 .

B cleaned my kitchen cupboard doors for me that was a big help ,
              Just hoover through now .

Mimi my BIL hates Ginger too

Daisy yes he does his own ginger syrup , chops the fresh ginger into lumps and puts in jars with a syrup mixture he makes leaves it to take on all the ginger flavour for a couple of weeks before we use it , it lasts about a year I think , Added bonus you can use both the lumps and syrup in different things too .

We always have jars of that in fridge and jars of home made Red Cabbage , along with Home made Lemon curd and Rhubarb Jam .

Lizzie the albums sound good the children will love them and something to keep for life .

B made Rice pudding yesterday , he loves Nutmeg on his ,I have always hated Nutmeg , but yesterday I decided to give it another go and was surprised I actually like it now ,
My tastes have changed as I get older I think .
I know Gem used to hate Olives and now loves them

Avo just caught up , safe journey home xx

Oma, I am not a keen nutmeg lover, or cinnamon come to it. You were early at the Lidl, I usually go early and sometimes have a private shop!

The girls will cherish the albums. The second one arrives later today so will have them both.

Good morning, ladies. There must be something in the air - so many Grans up and chatting and it's not even 9 am! Lovely to see you.

We've got hazy sunshine, and it was a bit warmer last night, but still a bit of frost about.

Mimi - if you get sent to the naughty step for hating ginger, I will have to come and join you as I hate coconut in all its forms! Luckily my OH hates it too. Actually, thinking about it - I don't care for ginger beer, even though I love everything else ginger.

Lizzie - I'm so pleased the album has worked out well - I bet the other one will be just as good. Your GDs are very lucky young ladies.

Nanto - enjoy your supermarket shopping.

Oma - you'll be worn out before lunch-time. I'll have to have a go at making ginger - is it just a normal sugar syrup. I'm guessing - let the syrup cool and add peeled and chopped ginger and store in sterilised jars? I think your tastes do change over time. I always grate nutmeg onto a rice pudding as well.

As it's sunny, I might do some washing - bedding certainly, but I might do some other bits and pieces. The monthly dog food order is due this morning so I'll have to resort my tidy chest freezer to keep everything in some sort of date order. The sucky up thing hasn't seen light of day for ages so I might give it a treat. At least we don't have to think about unexpected visitors coming and having to tread through the squalor!

Have a good Saturday ladies, and enjoy some fresh air when the fog clears.

Daisy yes its a sugar syrup but he also peels and chops the ginger and simmers in the syrup for a little while to release the ginger flavour quicker before putting in the jars , it also softens the ginger slightly

I dont like Ginger beer at all yuk

Lovely and sunny here, no plans. I could sweep up the leaves in the courtyard but there are still a lot of leaves to come from the woods. I might make the Christmas pudding, I have all the ingredients now.

Oma, love the sound of B's recipe for ginger in syrup. Think I might have a go. You will need to rest now after a night of housework and early shop.

Lizzie, I am sure your GD's will love and treasure their albums.

                            Morning all.
As it was a nice sunny day we decided to go for a walk. I let OH choose the route, that was a big mistake. As we got nearer to home a police van with sirens blaring passed us followed closely by another van with police dogs inside.
We jokingly said that someone wasn't wearing a face mask in the shop just up the road.
As we got closer to some houses we could see two police men holding back a man who was clearly acting violently towards another person . The dogs who were still in the other van were barking and growling.
We crossed the road to get as far away as possible and we made our way back home. That's the last time OH chooses the route.

Going back to the subject of ginger beer , when I was a child I can clearly remember mum making her own . In fact most things mum made from scratch, from lemonade to Christmas cake, from pickled onions to pickled eggs .
All our jumpers and cardigans were hand knitted, dresses were hand made . Old clothes that were beyond wearing were cut up to make rag mats . Make do and mend was mum's mantra . It's not like that now with cheap clothes that are thrown away when they become out of fashion.
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Oh that must have been scary Mimi.

My mum knitted all my jumpers and cardigans and made almost all my clothes. I remember begging her for a 'smooth bought cardigan' like everyone else once I got to grammar school!

                                Evening All.
We’ve had a beautiful few days here, and we have walked a good few miles! The world and his wife were out today, and we met people we hadn’t seen since before lockdown.
Plenty of garden jobs calling me but they will have to wait a few more weeks.
Lizzie I had the same operation as your friend’s daughter. It is a long recovery due to all the micro surgery but one of the upsides is the tummy tuck! I wish her a good recovery.
Fireworks still banging away here, it doesn’t seem to stop! I feel so sorry for all the animals. Someone in the next road hasn’t seen her cat since Wednesday. I hope it finds its way home.
                                Have a good Sunday all.
P.S. I love ginger. I could eat a jar in one sitting.
