GD's partner has come home, nothing happening, they said it might take 2/3 days. I know she will not be very happy about that. They have given her a pessery and the next stage is a sweep. I think really she would be better if she stayed at home and waited for it to happen naturally, at least she was active, now presumably she is just sitting about., but it was her choice. Her partner will go back early in the morning unless he gets a phone call. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Oh Plant i bet she is fed up , it always takes longer being induced in my opinion , its a drawn out process ,
You never know though once she has a sweep it could progress quicker , fingers crossed it does poor girl ,
They will both be exhausted by time baby is born otherwise xxxIm not fat just 6ft too small

Good morning Nan2 and everyone else.
I hope everyone is well.
Cute teddies Nan2.
Plant, I know induction is a much slower process these days. I think GD arrived about 3 days after they initially started it. When I was induced in 1975 it was breaking waters, oxytocin drip and straight into full labour. Baby arrived eight hours later, but it was eight hours of almost constant painful contractions. Not what the books had led me to expect! Today's methods are more gentle and natural, but frustrating when you just want it all over with. Thinking of your GD and hoping it is not too long to wait.
It feels like Groundhog day around here. No plans! Apart from GC days and supermarket days there are no plans in the foreseeable future, apart from appointments. This is life for us all atm isnt it? I just wish it was having any effect on the R rate.
I do have plenty to do regarding getting all the Christmas stuff put away, and we need to start really sorting things out at mums so we can put the house on the market this spring. Not today though.
There is the quiz with friends at 8, so that will be the highlight today

Morning ladies ,
I agree Gem , when I had DS in 81 the same thing happened but I went 27 hours most of that in constant pain
A neighbours DD went two days without anything happening at all then the 3rd day it was over and done with in 2 hours , I suppose it depends on the person doesn't it .
Its grey and dreary but dry ,another nothing day ahead
DD going with the Police and coroner and a court order this morning to forcibly remove the ladies body , she is hoping he will co-operate and they don't have to break the door down .
I sat reading most of the night then B got up at 5 and i went up for 2 hours so im tired now , washing in and that's about all im doing
I really cant be bothered today
Have a peaceful day ladies xxxIm not fat just 6ft too small

Good morning ladies. It's dull here but a bit warmer. I just fancy one of those croissants, Nanto!
Plant - your poor GD. I hope she goes into labour soon and it all goes smoothly. Plant my DIL1 was overdue with a large baby in 2003 and they wouldn't induce her and sadly she ended up needing an emergency Section - not something anyone wants to happen. I'm sure they won't let her sit around too much, they will want her to keep active. It's hard on mum and dad just waiting, but it gives the body a chance to do everything more naturally and they can keep an eye on her. Sending them my best wishes.
Oma - I hope things go as well as possible for your DD today. It's grim, whichever way it happens, but hopefully he will co-operate. I hope you get a nana nap today, you must be shattered. xx
Gem - even when you've got plenty to do you don't always feel like doing it, do you! OH started to tidy out the garage yesterday ready for the new boiler being put in in a couple of weeks. I think he wanted to get it done before he has his eye injection on Thursday. He had really only moved stuff round because he's not keen to go to the tip (if it's open!).
No plans for us today either. I must do some washing though, the laundry basket is overflowing. Happy days!
Take care everyone. xx

Thank you for your reassuring posts, I do not have any recent information about induction these days, they just broke the waters in my day. My DD has just been in to say they have moved her into the Labour Ward as she has gone into labour. Her partner went back at five and he is with her now.
Oma, what a dreadful job your DD has to do today, I do hope he allows his mother's body to be removed. Poor man, you have to feel sorry for him.
I must get a shift on, I plan to change the bedding and put a duster around. I will pop back later.

Plant not too long to wait now your GD must be so tired I'm sure things will go nice and smoothly for her the midwifery teams are so good with first time mummy's & daddy's .
It is bitterly cold here at the minute I don't usually have my heating on until about 4pm but put it on early this morning usually the house stays warm overnight, this morning there was a definate drop in temp.
Poppy has been to the vets and he took blood for testing he said she was in good health for her age checked her heart etc she was very good (pops not the vet) the vet took her into his surgery and I had to wait in the waiting room whilst he examined her then brought her out and stood behind the reception desk and told me what he had done, got to ring tomorrow for results.
I have spent the morning rearranging my worktop space in the kitchen because with the refund I got from Water Board I bought an Air Fryer and a new Crock Pot Sainsburys had a sale so I took advantage of the offers + extra 20% discount as I sent DS1 to get them and he used his staff card,I'm really pleased.
In the post today I got 50 Freesia Corms free from You Garden I just had to pay P&P so am looking forward to planting them in spring they should look good on the patio in the back.
My DD has been sent home from work as she has been contacted by track&trace as being in contact with someone who has tested positive she has to stay home for 10 days I think, she goes for a test tonight at 5.30pm in total about 8 people on her working floor have tested positive in the last week all are at home and not needing hospital care I'm so worried for her and her collegues.Keep Calm,You're Fabulous

Glamm - I do hope your DD is ok and doesn't get the virus. Nice new kitchen gadgets to try out. I've wondered about air fryers and how good they are. The idea sounds good and if they produce chips like we used to make in a fat fryer I'd get one like a shot - I'm not keen on oven chips.
I hope your Freesias do well - I've never managed to grow them, but they're one of my favourite flowers.
Plant - I hope all is going well. xx
I wonder how things have gone for Oma's DD today."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

Plant, hope she doesn't have too long a labour.
Glamma, hope DD will be ok.
Gem, we don't like oven chips at all.
About a week ago, someone posted on facebook, saying it took her about 45 minutes to make chips in the air fryer.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.
