Morning all. Its raining here this morning, it looks as if it is in for the whole day . Good job OH mowed the lawns yesterday.

I am on cat sitting duty for the next few days . Neighbour has gone camping so I have the key to let myself in twice a day . They have two cats and they run to greet me as soon as I step inside which is far more affection than I get from our own cat. Complete indifference is all I get from her.

WeeGranny I hate shredding, in fact OH has banned me from doing it. He says I am too inpatient, I try to shred to many pieces of paper at a time so I end up jamming the damn thing.

I spoke to SIL yesterday, she works at the hospital and has been working non stop since lockdown. She said just lately she has broken down in tears at the slightest thing, she is exhausted and the other day she came home from work at 5ish and went straight to bed. She was taking to the nurses there and they feel the same . They have put it down to the constant sate of alert they are on . It's so stressful. If the NHS is going to cope through the winter it needs to take a look at all its staff from senior staff right down to cleaners . A lot of them are struggling..

People are selfish not wearing a mask if they are deemed medically fit and able . Not only will it help spread covid but it could keep colds and the common flu at bay .
I notice that the flu vaccine is going to offered to as many adults and children as possible.
I read in one of the online papers that vets could be enrolled to give vaccines to people. ( Could be fake news )
We could actually double up our appointment when the cat has her flu vaccine in September. That's fine as long as I don't have to climb up on the the examination table and have my temperature taken!!!

We have got Tesco arriving soon . I see they have lowered there delivery charges to £4.50 for all slots . Doesn't make much difference to me as I pay a lump sum once a year .

    Have a good day everyone
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Thank you Plant. As there are only 4 of us, from 2 households, luckily we are not weather dependant as it is fine to be inside

Mimi, I am so sorry to hear your Sil is feeling so worn out, I don't think we realise what a dreadful strain they are working under.

I am a shredder jammer too. I have taken to burn some private documents lately.

WG, I hope your neighbour got the message and doesn't smoke you out again.

I think I am going to have to put a box of plums at the end of the track when they all start to ripen, so far I have just had to pick a few. Would your DD like some WG?

Good morning, ladies. I haven't just got up - honestly!!

It's like winter here - heavy downpours and not warm! I think it's fairly localised on the south coast so I hope the rest of you are having better luck.

Plant - when we got a new router, just after we finally got fibre to the cabinet, it took a week or so to speed up. I think it has to 'learn' things - something like that. It's a kind thought to put plums out for neighbours to share. You could also freeze some of them for pies, jam etc later.

Gem - I totally agree. People who won't wear masks are making it harder for others. They may be infectious without knowing it, and pass it on to others. I haven't done any shopping at all since lockdown, but I've got a mask in my car and another in my handbag. I think your DD2 is right, and if everyone complies people will feel more relaxed and more prepared to go out and shop.

Have a lovely time with your friends tonight. I love your kitty graphic!

Nanto - what a cheery good morning for a cold, wet day.

Lizzie - glad to hear the family is feeling a bit better today. Perhaps they need to take a few days off from all the work they've been doing.

WeeGranny - it must be a bit frustrating for your DS to have to isolate, and I know if they're going to ease restrictions there has to be a target date, but it seems odd that if he'd come a few days later he wouldn't have had to do that. I do think that clear cut rule - you wear a mask or stay in - is less confusing for people. It also stops the put it on/take it off syndrome which I'm sure a lot of people here will do, which can't be good unless they're really scrupulous with hand sanitising and having a clean mask each time! I hope your neighbours got the message about their barbecue!

Mimi - Your poor SIL - it sounds as though she needs a bit of a break to recharge her batteries. You can only keep going under that sort of pressure for so long, then your body tells you it's time to give it a rest.

At least the neighbour's cats come to greet you. I've just finished cat sitting duties for a neighbour with 3 cats. One of them always comes to me for ear and chin rubbing, tummy tickles and a general all over body massage. One usually comes for a minute or so and other is totally shy. I gave them extra food this morning in case their family are late back tonight, but mum and the children have just got back, so she probably thinks I've been over-feeding them all week! They been sailing for a few days, so it looks as though the storm forecast has driven them back into Hamble a bit early. I bet they've left dad there to sort out the boat!

Haha - I hope the vets get the right anti-flu stuff - I don't think they can use cat flu vaccine on us!! I certainly don't want my temperature taken, either!!

I suppose this afternoon I could do some housework, tackle the ironing, do some baking or cook a complicated exotic meal for tonight. But I'll probably do some painting!

Well the rain put paid to neighbour's eating outdoors today. His parents only stayed for a few hours then they were off.
Well I managed to overheat the shredder but I let it cool down and got it finished.
Did a bit of weeding where I cut back some shrubs before the rain started.
Curry for dinner and then I made a start on the jigsaw DD gave me. Took forever to get the edges sorted out!
Off to bed now. Sleep tight ladies x
Plant will ask DD about plums. Thanks for the offer.

                              Good morning everyone.

Today we are going to Burnby Hall Gardens, about 20 miles away. A very nice place which we haven't visited for some years. I have booked us in to the 12.15 slot, so that we can have some lunch at the cafe while we are there. Two sets of friends have been recently and both say it is all well organised and safe, with a one way system etc. The house is not open, of course.

                              Have a good Sunday everyone.
