The decorating of the hall has been sort of forced upon us.
As you know we had a new kitchen just before Christmas with ended up being the kitchen fitting from hell, well not so much the kitchen but the asbestos! It was found under several layers of kitchen floor tiles and, as the electrics had to be changed also behind the electric meter in the cupboard in the hall.
Part of the wall over the door had to be drilled into , but to be fair it was all put back and papered over which meant that the top half of the wall was half white and half cream which wasn’t too bad as it couldn’t be seen unless you looked up.
The worst bits are around the door frames and the bottom of the doors from the when the rooms were sealed to stop asbestos dust going into the other rooms . I don’t know what was used but it’s taken bits of paint off . It looks a bit tatty.
Hopefully a bit of filler and white paint will soon restore it to its former glory, after all the doors and frames are only just over 5 years old.
We are sticking to basically the same colours as we have now as it all blends in with the hall runner, lamp shades and nick nacks that sit on the shoe cupboard and radiator shelf. The bottom half of the walls are wood panels which will be green ( sage) and the top half of the walls will be cream and this is where we are saving some money because the decorator who did the kitchen gave us an almost full tin of cream paint so we thought we’d use that. obviously the doors will be white gloss and on the ceiling we are using the magic white paint that goes on pink but dries white so that it makes it easier to see what bits you miss !
