Oma - thanks for the update. So sad about her DD.

Lizzie - that sounds like a good idea.

I know more about this now having chatted to DD.
It wasn't only my GD, none of the children, whichever school they came from knew what to expect. It was a full week, Monday to Friday, not just two days as I had thought. It was sold to them as weeks free holiday club, to help get to know the school and meet other pupils. As it was in the school holidays it was of course not compulsory.
Some couldn't go at all as they were already booked on family holidays. Fortunately GD was going away with friends from Wednesday, so only did two days. DD said she would have struggled to get GD to give up the whole first week of her school holidays for this, and if I were here mum I certainly wouldn't have made her do more than a couple of days.
